You can surf anonymously using a proxy server, SSH Tunnel or VPN Tunnel.  But many of the proxy servers available on the web are not anonymous at all -- even the ones that they say are anonymous!  And some of the sites that claim to determine whether your proxy server is anonymous can give out misleading or incorrect results!
